Walgreens Boots Alliance Canceled the Sale of Boots Pharmacy Following Significant Changes in the World Markets
Following an unanticipated and drastic change in the global financial markets since initiating the sales process in January as part of an operational strategy review, Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) opted to maintain ownership of UK-based Boots Pharmacy and No7 Beauty Company businesses. WBA has determined that continuing to concentrate on the expansion and profitability of the two businesses—rather than accepting Reliance Industries Limited's $6.3B offer to acquire Boots—is in the best interests of its shareholders.

According to preliminary data from Shop Apotheke Europe for Q2'22, overall sales increased by 10.8% to €592M in H1'22 and by 14.7% to €287M in Q2, both led by sales in everything but-Rx in the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) (+14.4%) and International sector (+27.8%). The Management Board of Shop Apotheke reiterates its estimate that everything-but-Rx revenues would increase by double digits in the region of 15% to 25% for the entire year 2022.
