Will Germany's ePharmacy Scenery be Dominated by Delivery Apps in the Near Future?
More and more consumers in Germany are now receiving OTC meds directly to their houses via delivery apps. ePrescription is projected to enhance this trend, since the handover between the doctor and the pharmacy will now be taking place directly online. In Germany, however, drug delivery is strictly regulated, with substantial barriers to entry. According to ABDA, only around 3K of the country's 18,5K pharmacies are permitted to deliver with the help of external partners. What will happen though, if delivery providers decide to open their own ePharmacy facilities?

South Ossetia’s First-Ever State ePharmacy is Now a Reality!
Residents of South Ossetia, an autonomous republic in Georgia, will be able to acquire medicines from the governmental ePharmacy from the comfort of their own homes. Soslan Naniev, the head of the republic's Ministry of Health, shared how required drugs may be easily obtained through the aftek.shop website. Currently, the ePharmacy service is only available to residents of the capital and is only offered until 24.00, but the hours will gradually be extended.

BOOM: Greek ePharmacies Get Stronger with €241 Million in Annual Turnover in 2021
According to Convert Group’s annual study, the Greek ePharmacy sector has reached new highs, with online sales estimated at around €241M (incl. VAT) in 2021 (10% Y-o-Y growth). Furthermore, industry giants continuously strengthen their position is the Greek market, as the top-12 ePharmacies and Skroutz Marketplace, Greece’s largest marketplace, saw a 34% Y-o-Y increase. With a +34% percent increase, health products led the pack. We now can't wait to see how big the ePharmacy industry in Greece will become in 2022.

How Does the German Start-up CURE Utilize eBikes to Deliver Medications Quickly and Sustainably?
Following the massive growth of delivery services in Germany, a brand-new pharmaceutical delivery service, CURE, that transports over 3K non-prescription meds, was just launched in Berlin. Cure utilizes a mobile app for the order placing, which is then processed by a partner pharmacy and delivered to the front door of the consumer by eBike in under 30 minutes. Customers are not charged any additional shipping fees. The company’s goal is to improve the pharmaceutical sector through a digital offer and meet the needs of all parties concerned through a sustainable solution.

Italian-Based 1000Farmacie Just Received $15M to Continue its Innovation in the ePharmacy Industry!
1000Farmacie, an Italian online marketplace that brings together pharmacies on a single platform, has just raised $15M in funding. As the price of the same medicine differs in each Italian pharmacy, 1000Farmacie seeks to assist consumers in locating the meds they need at the lowest price. The company, until now, has raised a total of $17M in funding, which will be used to expand its operations, network of local pharmacies and last-mile delivery service. Additionally, 1000Farmacie plans to incorporate more health-care services by 2023 in order to further serve patients.
