Legislation Update: The UK General Pharmaceutical Council Has Revised Its Guidelines for ePharmacies

The UK General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has revised its guidelines for registered ePharmacies, which provide pharmacy services remotely, in terms of delivery services, identity-checking of customers, prescription guidance, and revisions to prior guidance given by others, including the General Medical Council (GMC). The primary goal of this update is to protect patients and the general public when they shop for medications online. The GPhC might soon implement more new regulations to make the pharmaceutical industry a safer environment for customers.

The Belgian-based Pharmasimple, specializing in eParapharmacy, returns to the pharmacy. The ePharmacy LloydsPharmacy, situated in the UK, claimed a more than eightfold increase in revenue from their ePharmacy LloydsDirect. Actually, a 237% increase in revenue was reported through its lloydspharmacy.com website, a 10% increase from its online doctor offering, and a 731% increase from LloydsDirect, the prescription delivery service, which was also named the consumer's preferred option for receiving medications through the ePrescription service (EPS).
