Shop Apotheke and Galenica Partner to Dominate the Swiss Market
Europe's leading ePharmacy, Shop Apotheke, is to merge with Galenica's specialty pharmacy, Mediservice, to introduce a brand-new leading ePharmacy in Switzerland. Shop Apotheke will hold a 51% stake in the joint venture, with Galenica taking the remaining 49%. The transaction will see Mediservice take over the business activities of shop-apotheke.ch, and Galenica will sell a 51% share in Mediservice to Shop Apotheke, while Galenica will purchase a further 0.4M shares of Shop Apotheke Europe. The transaction is expected to be executed in H1 2023.

Amazon Pharmacy Saves Time and Money with New Automatic Coupon Feature for Eligible Medications
Amazon Pharmacy has introduced a new feature that integrates manufacturer-sponsored coupons directly into the checkout process, making it easier and more affordable for patients in America to obtain the Rx drugs they require. Drug manufacturers often offer coupons on their brand-name medications to reduce out-of-pocket costs for patients, but they can be difficult to locate, leaving patients with a time-consuming process. Amazon's new feature automatically applies manufacturer-sponsored coupons, making the process seamless.

The ePharmacy sector in India is under threat after companies violated the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, prompting the govt to consider withdrawing approvals given to the ePharmacies. Retail pharmacies have accused ePharmacies of misusing patient data, selling meds without prescriptions and engaging in predatory pricing. Although the sector saw significant growth during the pandemic, it faces uncertain times. The ePharmacy market is expected to see an annual growth rate of 42% between FY21 and FY25, and reach $3.2B in India.

Hippocrates Holding has become the leading pharmaceutical retailer in Italy by consolidating 320 owned pharmacies in just 4 years. The company aims to provide total patient care and has established pharmacies as consultancy centers. Hippocrates Holding has also collaborated with the Italian Red Cross to deliver medicines to patients' homes. Additionally, the company secured over €900M in funding for growth, while expanding online presence and planning to add 100 new pharmacies yearly.

EAEP's 2022 Report: Rising Trends and Regulatory Changes in the Growing European ePharmacy Market
The European Association of E-Pharmacies’ (EAEP) 2022 report shows the ePharmacy market in Europe is growing at 16% in total visits. While the ePharmacy landscape remains scattered, the trend of ePharmacies existing alongside physical pharmacies is increasing. The report also discusses regulatory changes, including the liberalization of online sale of Rx meds in Lithuania and the introduction of ePrescriptions in Austria. The report advocates for a level playing field in the proposed European Health Data Space legislation and stresses promoting the EU Common Logo to enable patients to recognize trustworthy ePharmacies.
