According to IQVIA’s study, even after the pandemic, the online channel continues to expand, with 84% of consumers believing that pharmacies will play an increasingly important role in providing health advice in the future. In Q1 2022, the number of pharmacies and services both online and offline increased, owing to the emergence of eCommerce and eRetailer models. Additionally, consumer behavior has shifted and the share of eCommerce in particular is split between ePharmacies (46%) and Amazon (40%).

The Russian ePharmacy Industry Surged by a Third in 2021 and Ranked 2nd in Terms of Financial Growth!
According to Data Insight, 101 million orders totaling RUB 168 billion were placed in Russian ePharmacies in 2021. The average basket was 1670 rubles. Additionally, ePharmacies received 30% more orders in 2021, than in 2020. As a result, the ePharmacy market expanded at a rapid pace and ranked second in terms of financial growth (+34%), after the food industry. Online sales of medication will continue to rise in 2022, making the industry one of the most profitable ones in the world.

Sweden’s ePharmacy LloydsApotek Strikes a Partnership with Digital Training Platform Kvix to Expand Its Offering
A new partnership between Sweden's ePharmacy LloydsApotek and digital training platform Kvix aims to enhance the ePharmacy's holistic well-being offering. Kvix has attracted over 60K members since its inception, owing to its extensive range of training courses. LloydsApotek currently operates 74 pharmacies in Sweden, operates an eCommerce platform, and strives to expand further with this new initiative. Many additional services, ranging from skin analyses to pain counseling, will be included in this new offering.

India’s CAIT Urges Govt to Take Action Against ePharmacy Behemoths to Combat Trade Injustices
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has strongly condemned the ePharmacy trade's injustices as firms including Pharmeasy, Medlife (recently acquired by Pharmeasy), 1Mg, Netmeds, Amazon pharmacy, and Flipkart are violating regulations, and misusing the eCommerce landscape by offering rock-bottom prices with 30% - 40% off and free delivery. According to CAIT, the govt's intervention is necessary to keep the other pharma players sheltered. We are all eager to uncover what happens next in this matter.
