Pharmacists' Association Outraged Over Proposal to Restrict Online Drug Sales in South Korea
While the National Assembly Research Service recently proposed allowing online pharmacies to prohibit the sale and delivery of medicines online, the Korean Pharmaceutical Association (KPA) has expressed its opposition to this proposal. The Pharmaceutical Association questioned the logic behind the assumption that illegal online sales will cease once Internet pharmacies are established, stating in a statement on the 17th of August. In situations where unlicensed drugs are already being imported into Korea through overseas direct purchases or when prescription drugs are imported from illegal online pharmacy sites abroad, problems such as counterfeit drugs may arise.
