The Federal Trade Commission is investigating Amazon's ambitions to acquire 1Life Healthcare, One Medical's parent corporation. If the One Medical transaction is approved, Amazon will gain control of a nationwide primary healthcare organization with more than 180 clinics offering in-person care, as well as telemedicine and virtual care services. This distinguishes the transaction from Amazon's prior healthcare-related acquisitions in that it will bring the corporation closer to hospitals and health systems.
