Singaporean Illegal ePharmacies are on the Rise Despite Their Constant Shutdown
The illicit sale of Rx medication online has increased with over 100,000 websites or online marketplaces being taken down in 2020. Currently, Rx medicines are being sold on Telegram and delivered in Singapore through the mail by being declared as mobile phone parts, cosmetics, plastic products, dietary vitamins, and toys. The Pharmaceutical Security Institute, located in the United States, has partnered with Interpol in Operation Pangea XIV to battle this rising pharmaceutical crime.

Which New Regulations are Coming for Indian ePharmacies?
The Indian government is preparing a new policy to regulate meds, cosmetics, and medical devices. This proposed new regulation will properly address topics like medical devices, hospital equipment, e-pharmacy, emergency use authorization, besides compensation regulations in the case of EUAs and clinical trials. Medical devices might even be separated from drugs with a different law as manufacturers have urged the government to do.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought an unparalleled growth to NHS first UK ePharmacy, Pharmacy2U. The ePharmacy’s profit before tax was at £100,000 in March 31, 2021 compared to losses equal to £7.2M using the same metric the prior year. Additionally, approximately 12.7M NHS prescription items were delivered as of March 31, 2021, 71% higher than the 2020 total.

Australian Pharmacy Alliance Driving Digitalization for Independent Pharmacists
Arrotex Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Alliance partner with healthtech start-up Medmate to drive the digitalization of independent pharmacies. This partnership will offer ePrescription enabled eCommerce websites to 700+ independent pharmacists to enhance their physical stores with online distribution of Rx and OTCs medications. Members of the Pharmacy Alliance can also list their pharmacies on the Medmate App in order to improve their digital presence and reach more customers.
