During 2022, Brazilian pharmacies have witnessed a spike in online sales, reaching over 60% in certain cases compared to 2021. According to Brazilian Association of Pharmacies and Drugstores (Abrafarma), the sector's rise in e-commerce is evident. For one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical chains, RaiaDrogasil, digital channels account for 12% of overall income in 2022. More appealing pricing, along with the ease of purchasing with pick-up at the shop in a few hours, not only benefit customers, but also companies.

Polish-based Gemini Polska has been developing its ePharmacy Gemini.pl into a "complete health platform" since December. With anticipated sales of €260M in 2022, German ePharmacy Apodiscounter is now the fastest growing German ePharmacy. The numbers increased quietly: 30% growth, while the rivals lost ground. According to Mr. Scheel, the company’s Managing Director, every day, 25K items leave the Wachau logistics facility alone totaling for an average of €1M in sales. Every year, 18K pharmacies, including on-site pharmacies, produce €65B in sales. Only €10B of them were treated with OTC medications.

Ghana's National ePharmacy Platform Successfully Assists in Reaching National Future ePharmacy Goals
The Ghana National ePharmacy Platform (NEPP), continues its successful rollout since early 2023. According to the chairman of Ghana's Pharmaceutical Society, NEPP is a platform for regulated pharma eCommerce that would be linked to other eHealth platforms. Pharmacies interested in practicing pharmacy eCommerce are encouraged to register with the Pharmacy Council and join the platform. Furthermore, the ePharmacy platform is assured of having the greatest pricing range to create a win-win situation for both consumers and pharmaceutical firms.
