Hungarian National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Food Health: Only 683 ePharmacies Are Licensed to Operate in the Country
The number of ePharmacy orders is increasing since it is simple and allows for price comparison, but this boosts the turnover of both legal and criminal marketplaces. According to a letter sent by the National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Food Health (OGYÉI), there are now only 683 pharmacies in Hungary that are authorized to dispense medications online. IQVIA: The Italian ePharmacy Market Boomed with a €673M Turnover During 2022
The Italian ePharmacy industry advanced significantly in 2022 increasing its turnover from €428M in 2020 to €673M in 2022, an increase of almost 20% Y-o-Y, according to IQVIA’s study, although ePharmacies are still prohibited from selling Rx meds. In Italy, independent pharmacies continue to dominate the industry, although the number of chains is fast rising, and already accounts for 15% of all pharmacies. One of the main drivers of the pharma sector’s growth is the digital lever, which has flourished in the pandemic and has the potential to result in the much-desired liberalization of the industry.

Tata 1mg, Amazon, Flipkart, NetMeds, Apollo and Other Indian ePharmacies Received a Notice from the Ministry of Health Regarding their Lack of License to Sell Drugs Online
India is preparing regulations and strict action, including the suspension of operations, for ePharmacies. In addition to the business' legality, safeguarding patient data privacy, regulating ePharmacies' activities, and monitoring Rx meds sales have all been cited as contributing factors for these measures. At a CAGR of 22%, the ePharmacy industry in India is expected to reach around €1B in 2027. The action was taken a few days after the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), sent notices to 20 ePharmacies, including well-known brands like Tata 1mg, Amazon, Flipkart, and NetMeds.
