The ePharmacy colossus Amazon, is in negotiations with Apollo Hospitals about forming a new partnership and improve their omnichannel strategy. This will offer Amazon the strength to compete against its rivals that have entered the market through acquisitions. With the recent acquisitions of NetMeds by Reliance and 1mg by Tata Digital, ePharmacy is becoming a fiercely competitive market. We are eager to see if Amazon's collaboration with a major physical retailer will fuel the fire even more.

Greek ePharmacies Faced a +115% Online Sales Boost During Black Friday 2021
According to Convert Group's latest research, the Greek ePharmacy sector surged by 115% in sales value during this year’s Black Friday vs the average online sales value of the previous three Fridays in November. Electric toothbrushes ruled the scenery with a +209% sales growth followed by anti-aging/anti-wrinkle creams (+164%) and eye care products (+156%). The typical order consisted of 5.1 items and valued €44.80. We cannot wait to see how big the ePharmacy market will get by the end of 2021.

Boom: Carrefour UAE Now Offers Pharmaceutical Products Online
Carrefour has partnered with Aster Pharmacy, the UAE's biggest pharmacy chain, to supply OTC medications, health supplements, nutritional products, and personal care items across the country. Carrefour will use its fleet to process and deliver orders throughout the UAE in under 90 minutes. Customers can order all non-prescription products through the Aster Pharmacy store in Carrefour’s marketplace. Carrefour's partnership with Aster Pharmacy aims to provide a one-stop shop for everyday necessities, making online shopping more accessible than ever.

How will US-based Hims & Hers Deliver Rx & OTC Drugs Within 90-Minutes in USA?
US-based Hims & Hers, a consumer and telehealth company that sells Rx and OTC drugs online, as well as personal care products, has teamed up with UberEats app to provide on-demand delivery of its health and wellness items. This year, the company has focused on increasing client access through new retail alternatives while the increasing popularity of online merchants like Amazon has fueled this new customer demand for on-demand delivery services. Retailers might need to act fast and add on-demand delivery services before they lose to their competition.

According to sources, Tata-owned 1mg is expected to launch its first physical store next month, while rival PharmEasy has begun to grow its offline channel through franchise locations. As the two companies have taken different approaches to going offline, it would be intriguing to see how this plays out. This would place established offline pharmacies like Apollo Pharmacy and Medplus in direct competition with ePharmacies 1mg and PharmEasy.
